Henderson Logan Iowa January 20, 1919 Lydia M. Dow was born in Ohio, May 1, 1845. She came to Iowa with her parents in 1847, and was married to George O. James in 1863. She went with her husband that same year to the Rocky Mountains by wagon train, and there her husband engaged in mining. Four children were born to this union, one of whom was ridden over and killed by a bunch of drunken cowboys, when about three years of age. The survivors are Charles James of Seattle, Wash., Bryant James of Great Falls, Mont. and Mrs. Clara Williams of Fresno, Calf. In 1873 she was united in marriage to Stephen S. Bass and to this union four children were born, one dying in infancy, the eldest William Bass died from pheumonia in California in 1902 at the age of 27 years. the surviving are Ivy J. Stewart of Ora Loma, Calf. and Daisy williams of Fremont, Nebr. She was married to Milton A. Henderson in 1892 who died about eight years ago. She leaves three brothers Frank W. Dow Sr. of Logan, Wyman E. Dow of Bradley, S.D, and Ira Dow of Denmark, Iowa and one sister Mrs. F. L. borden of sioux Falls, S.D. She died at Fremont, Ne. at the hospital having suffered a stroke of paralizes, about a week presiding her death. She was buried in the Bethel cemetery the service being conducted by Rev. Hargrove.
