Phebe C(Child) Arnold Obituary, Salem, Henry Co., Iowa ------------------------------------------------------------ A few more obituaries, some for friends, some still from family. from Salem newspaper 1928 PHEBE C. ARNOLD Phebe C. (Child) Arnold, daughter of Isaac and Esther Child, was born Dec. 12, 1839 in Bucks couhty, Pennsylvania and died Sunday, January 29, 1928 at her home in Salem, Iowa, aged 89 years, 1 month and 17 days. She was a member of a family of six children, all having passed on. She came with her parent to Salem in 1859 and settled on the farm west of Salem now owned by Elbert Brown, which had been owned by the Childs family until sold to Mr. Brown a few years ago. In 1880 she was united in marriage to P.C. Arnold. In 1887 they moved to Cameron, Mo. After Mr. Arnold's death in 1911, Mrs. Arnold returned to Salem to be near her brothers, Homer and Samuel, whom she lovingly cared for in their declining years. She was a birthright member of the Friends church and was a regular attendant of this church. She leaves to mourn her loss besides hosts of friends, four stepchildren, Orin Arnold of Cameron, Mo., Mrs. Cora Roberts of Lincoln, Neb., Charlie Arnold of New Orleans, La., Edward Arnold of Baton Rouge, La., a foster sister, Mrs. Mary Chamberlain of Lincoln, Neb. A son of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold having died in infancy. Funeral services were held in the Friends church Wednesday, Feb. 1, conducted by her pastor, Rev. G.W.
