Mrs. Masden came to this vicinity with her parents when a child. She grew to womanhood in the neighborhood where she breathed her last. She was married to John Masden in this county on Nov. 2nd, 1856. She was an earnest believer in Christianity, and when she departed from her earthly abode it was with faith in her Christ as her Savior. The cause of her death was paralysis, the first attack of which she received a few weeks before her death, two other strokes following. It affected her right side. She was conscious up to two days before her death, but was unable to speak. At the time of her death she was 63 years, 6 months and 27 days old. The subject of this memoir was one of a band of thirty-seven who came here in the year 1837, of which there are but four left, namely: Milton Joy, of near Portland, Oregon; John Joy of Adell, Iowa, and his twin sister, of Dallas county, near Adell, and Mrs. Lydia Ann Taylor, of this city. A kind and loving wife, an affectionate mother, good neighbor and friend has passed into the great beyond. She died as she lived, quiet and peaceful. There are also several surviving sisters, of which Mrs. Lydia Taylor, of this city is one, and Mrs. W.H. Spurrier, of Lamoni, another. ----------------------- Charlotta Cammack Masden was also survived by a brother John of Guthrie, Oklahoma which the obit fails to mention. Also two other sisters who they fail to mention. Mary E. Bond and Mrs. C.G. Knight.
