Her siblings were: William Edward (1823-1880); Michael (born abt 1824); Bridget (1830-1914); John Edward (1840- 1938); Mary, Margaret and Kate. Ann emigrated to New York City, then lived at Wisconsin and finally at Vernon Springs, Howard County, Iowa. She married a John James McDonough at either Ireland or New York. The couple had these children: John James (August 1846 New York-1919 Howard, Iowa); Catherine (1851 New York-1893 Cresco, Howard, Iowa); James (born 1856); Sarah Ann (born 1858 Wisconsin, died February 2, 1927 Cresco, Howard, Iowa). Found Ann in the 1880, 1885 censuses living at Vernon Springs, Howard, Iowa: 1880: John J. Mcdonough 33, Ann Damgan 59, John Mcdonough 65, Catherine Mcdonough 29, Sarah Ann Mcdonough 22. 1885: Ann Mcdonough 63, John Mcdonough 38, Cathern Mcdonough 33, James Mcdonough 29, Sarah A Mcdonough 25. (Says she is widowed). Ann McDonough died abt 1893 at Vernon Springs or Cresco, Howard County, Iowa. She is buried at the Calvary Cemetery at Cresco, Howard, Iowa (according to WPA records) and her grave says "Mother". Believe that her spouse, John, her son, James and her father-in-law are also buried at this cemetery. Additional Comments: Censuses transcribed as found without fixing spelling errors. Although the 1885 census says that Ann was widowed, the WPA records state that her spouse, James John McDonough died 1888. Believe the WPA records could be in error and the 1888 date read may be 1885. The graves at the Calvary Cemetery are marked as "Mother" and "Father".
