A. HANSEN Edward A. Hansen, the popular and efficient postmaster of Holstein, was born June 8, 1896, at Wall Lake, Iowa, and is the eldest of the six children in the family of Hans C. and Mary (Kastner) Hansen. The father was a native of Germany and became an expert cabinetmaker. He came to the United States early in the '80s and first located in Sac county, Iowa, where he married Miss Kastner. She was a native of Benton county, this state, and a daughter of Henry Kastner. Edward A. Hansen was reared and educated in Ida county and after leaving high school became a clerk in a general store. He was thus employed for six years and in 1920, during the Wilson administration, was chosen postmaster of Holstein. He was reappointed by President Coolidge and has demonstrated that he is the right man for the office. He is devoted to the interests intrusted to his care and his work has been highly satisfactory. On January 14, 1918, Mr. Hansen married Miss Bessie Mae Kitchen, one of the eight children born to Henry and Ann Kitchen. Mr. and Mrs. Hansen have three children: Earl H., Lois E. and Edward, Jr. They are affiliated with the Methodist Episcopal church and Mr. Hansen is a strong advocate of the platform and principles of the republican party. He is a young man of worth and ability, thoroughly qualified for the responsibilities devolving upon him, and holds a high place in the esteem of the citizens of Holstein.
