Cravens For County Auditor Daniel T. Cravens, who by birth is a New Yorker, by faith a dyed in the wool Democrat and by breeding is a gentleman and scholar. For more than thirty years he has been a resident of Maquoketa and during that period has been engaged in various pursuits. For several years he was connected with some of the largest clothing houses in the east as a travelling salesman and had but few equals on the road in this line. He was also general agent for the state of Iowa for the Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company and in this important and responsible position acquitted himself with credit, enjoying the distinction of not only surpassing his predecessors, but of writing more insurance in this field than any other man during the same period. Of late years he has been engaged in handling stocks of merchandise at auction in different parts of the country, in which he achieved success and it is accredited by the U. S. Auctioneer’s Journal as the best in the west. This may appear boastful, but we mention it to show what his ambition and ability in whatever he may engage always places him at the top. As a penman and accountant Mr. Cravens has no superior in the county and if elected will, we believe, fill the office to the entire satisfaction of every tax-payer and voter.
