A. Mahony- D. A. Mahony of Dubuque, was one of those democrats who, at the beginning of the war, were spirited away to “Lincoln’s Bastille” to improve their loyalty. At that time no man in the country was more violent in his denunciation of the party that could connive at such an “outrage” on the “sacred rights” of a citizen. As a mere matter of news, and not because it makes any particular difference to the democratic or any other party, we publish the fact that this same D. A. Mahony is now “cheek by jowl” with the very men who ordered his incarceration! Politics does make strange bedfellows, that’s a fact.
