Tinker, son of Mrs. Helen Tinker, of Maquoketa, was honored by the employees of duPont laboratory in Wilmington, Delaware, on Tinker's 25th anniversary with the company. Mr. Tinker was born in Maquoketa and attended schools here. He completed work at the University of Chicago in 1918 and entered the U. S. Army for one year. He was stationed with the 878th Aero Squadron at Dallas, Texas, where he advanced to the rank of sergeant. In 1919 Mr. Tinker entered the employ of the Newport Chemical Company, at Carrollville, Wisconsin, carrying out research work on naphthalene intermediates. He was placed in charge of dyestuff intermediate research at Newport laboratory in 1929. He was transferred to Jackson laboratory in Wilmington in 1931 and named division head of the new products division. He was appointed assistant director of Jackson laboratory in 1938 and director in 1943.
