J. F. BOWEN CELEBRATED LAST THURSDAY Last Thursday, December 8, was the twelfth anniversary of the ordination of Rev. Father J. F. Bowen, and it is entirely safe to say that during the first twelve years of his priesthood Father Bowen has done as much to advance the interests of his church in the state as many who have served a natural lifetime in the calling, says the Sabula Gazette. Not only has he been an earnest and forceful expounder of the gospel according to his faith, carefully ministering to the spiritual welfare of the people on all occasions, but in the upbuilding of churches and church property he has been remarkably successful. During the twelve years he has raised and expended in churches and church improvements at Sabula, Preston, Bryant, Green Island and Osage over $30,000 in cash, which does not include a single penny of pew rents and other regular church receipts. And aside from his church work, Father Bowen has been an energetic and public spirited citizen in every parish where he has lived. His lectures on various topics have also been a prominent feature of his work and have given him a statewide acquaintance and a most desirable reputation as a public speaker.
