Ward S. Turner, a farmer residing near Esgate and Dennis Flinn, a neighbor of the former, seem to have been in a state of revolution between themselves for some time over certain charges and counter charges emanating last September over the draft law. It seems that Turner has been accused of evading the draft and has some of his fencing and buildings painted yellow a couple of times. He accuses Flinn of being one of the instigators. Saturday when the two men met on the street, words passed between them resulting in Turner firing two shots at Flinn, only one taking effect, hitting him on the cheek, crushing his jaw and tearing away the roof of his mouth. Flinn was badly wounded and the final outcome of his injuries are now only problematical. Pending the result Turner is out on $10,000.00 bond. Excitement is said to be at a high tension over the affair. (Note: Flinn survived the gunshot wound and Turner was convicted of assault on April 24, 1919) File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/ia/jackson/court/turner28nwl.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.net/iafiles/ File size: 1.8 Kb
