Mr. Hershberger, who resides on the farm with a brother, Abe, was alone when he discovered the fire in a barn some distance from the farm home. His clothing was apparently ignited when he attempted to battle the flames and in the excitement he jumped into a reservoir. His brother, who returned some time later, noticed smoke coming from the structure and upon investigation found him seriously burned and swimming in the icy water of the reservoir.
