OUR NEXT SHERIFF
If the voters of Jackson County do their duty and vote for the man who 
deserves the honor, Riley Edwards will be the next sheriff of Jackson county. 
He was in the race two years ago and made a clean campaign from start to 
finish. He was defeated by only a small majority. He is making the same clean 
canvass of the county again this year and we believe the people of old Jackson 
will stay by the man who is asking that they elect him on the Republican 
ticket. Mr. Edwards is fitted for the duties of the Sheriff’s office as very 
few men are, and he meets you with the same genial face and manner whether you 
are opposed to him or not. That’s what the people want in an officer. If you 
did not vote for him and he should be elected, when you transact business with 
him in the sheriff’s office or on the street you will never know the 
difference. He will treat you as a friend for he believes in allowing 
everybody to have their own ideas and to use their own head. No autocratic 
notions about him, and if you fail to get to the polls next Tuesday and vote 
for him you are failing in your duties. All he asks of you is what really 
belongs to him. He is deserving of your support, is deserving of the office 
and is capable of attending to the duties of that office. Give him a boost 
with your vote and see that your neighbor does the same. Get to the polls 
early and do your duty.
