C. White of Sabula, who was in Maquoketa last week , stated to the Sentinel that two ferry boats would travel between Sabula and Savanna this season. The commodious “J. P. Gage,” so long in service between Lyons and Fulton would enter competition with the “Nudget,” a much smaller craft. Mr. White says the “J.P.Gage” can make the trip in all kinds of weather with a half dozen loaded teams and a couple hundred passengers if need be, and will be a great convenience to farmers, who will probably be carried over and back for a very small fee while the war is on.
