Deceased was born in Ireland and came first to Chicago, thence to Jackson County, 46 years ago, where he secured over 400 acres of land in Butler and Brandon Townships, and set to work with a will and determination to clear the same of its heavy timber. He succeeded and converted the lands into good farms. He was married in Ireland and the bride of those early days is the widow of this day, now a woman in her 94th year. To them were born four children, only one of whom is now known to be living, and that is Mrs. Daniel Duggan of Duggan, Butler Township. Deceased remarked before his final summons that he and his old friend, William Duggan, had lived and labored many years in the same neighborhood and both were now decrepit and would pass away about the same time and sure enough they did, their deaths were only three days apart. The funeral took place Wednesday from the home, Rev. Father McNamara officiating. His remains were laid to rest in Garry Owen cemetery.
