Jackson Sentinel, February 14, 1889 

Walter Bradley- 

The body of Walter Bradley was brought here at 7:30 last Friday evening 
accompanied by his sister, Mrs. Allie Sampson of Chicago and a brother-in-law, 
Captain Benjamin Van Steinburg, of Preston. Conveyances were at the depot to 
take the remains and those who accompanied them to Andrew. When the funeral 
party arrived a large number of people had gathered at the hotel and Bradley 
mansion to see the body of Walt, as he was familiarly known in the town of his 
birth and boyhood. The parents were bowed with sorrow and have the sympathy of 
many friends as their life has been one of much trouble. The young man's 
career had been wild, and its tragic ending was not a great surprise to those 
long acquainted with him. 

The funeral took place Saturday afternoon from the residence and was very 
largely attended. Mrs. Roda Rooke, of Sigourney, Mrs. Sampson and Miss Fannie 
Bradley, of Chicago, all sisters of the deceased, and Benjamine Van Steinburg 
were the only near relatives present. The coffin was beautifully bedecked with 
flowers. Rev. Crinklaw, Methodist minister, preached a brief sermon and the 
body was laid to rest in the family burying ground. Mr. Bradley was aged 27 
years and the youngest child in a family of seven living children. His father, 
an old resident, has represented Jackson county in the Iowa legislature 
several times in the years gone by, is a scholarly gentlemen and highly 
esteemed and until recently has followed the practice of law. 

Mrs. Bradley was buried at Englewood and the funeral was very largely 
attended, the floral decorations were beautiful and the sermon deeply 
impressive, the minister giving the deceased the title of "A Brave Little 
Woman."
