He was born in county Cork, Ireland, in 1822, and in 1851 came to the United States. For two years he was engaged in steamboating on the Mississippi river, and later for five years was employed in the Dickinson sash factory in Dubuque. In 1858 he removed to Butler township where the remainder of his days were passed upon the farm and where death removed him from life's activity, after an honest, upright and useful career. Of his family his wifo, Mary and six children survive him, as follows: Dennis, at home; Thomas, residing at Anaconda; Daniel, Butte City; Mrs. James Marden, Mrs. James McCarthy, and Mrs. Michael McCarthy, who reside in the vicinity of Garry Owen. The funeral was held yesterday from St. Patrick's church, Garry Owen and was largely attended. Rev. Father Kelly officiated.
