Mrs. Dahling has been ill for a long time and for the past two months has been confined to bed, and much of the time unable to take nourishment. The first of the week Dr. J. A. Carson, the attending physician considered as a last chance an operation should be performed and Dr. Bowen was called into consultation. On Wednesday morning this was done and about a pint of diseased bile together with 372 gall stones ranging from the size from a large bullet to a buck shot were removed. She came out from the influence of the anesthetic nicely but was too weak to rally and so passed away. Mrs. Dahling was born in Breslau, Germany and emigrated to this contry as a young lady, coming to Dubuque where she married George Dahling. Soon after they removed to Maquoketa, where they lived until Mr. Dahling’s death about eight years ago. She leaves five children surviving her-Mrs. Joseph Hodowal, Mrs. Vina Broderson and George Dahling of Maquoketa and Mrs. Emma Ebbs and William Dahling, both of whom reside in Sioux City. The funeral occurred this morning at 10 o’clock at the home of Mrs. Hodowal, Rev. F. W. Henry presiding.
