He had been in failing health for some time. Members of the family were at the bedside when the end came. Mr. Donovan who was 74 years old at the time of his death, was born November 28, 1851, on the farm on which he died. He had lived there his entire lifetime. He was typical of the exemplary citizen who helped in the development and progress of the rural districts where he had been in deep respect and esteem. He is survived by his widow, Mary and six children, Joseph, Edward, Alice, Theresa and Anita, at home, and Mrs. Jas. Burke of Dubuque, two sisters, Mrs. Dan Ahern of Bernard and Mrs. Jane Sullivan of Dubuque and one brother, Patrick of Bernard. Funeral services were held Thursday morning at 9 o'clock from the family residence to St. Patrick's Church at Garryowen. Interment was made in the adjoining cemetery.
