Father Bies had just started services when Mr. Fens was heard to groan and sank to the floor in his pew. Several members of the church raised him up and carried him outside and immediately summoned Drs. Hanske and Dennison who found that Mr. Fens was beyound medical aid and he died in a few moments. Father Manternach administered Extreme Unction Henry Fens was born at Emsbueren, Germany, January 6, 1842 and came to the United States forty-five years ago, coming directly to Jackson County, which has since been his home. He was married in 1874 to Anna Klein, who with five sons, four daughters, his sister, Mrs. Mary Wilming of Bellevue and several brothers and sisters in the old country, survive him. The cjhildren are Mrs. A. Vandanacker, of LaMotte, Mrs. W. J. Meier, John, Henry and Albert of Bellevue; Ben, Frank and Catherine at home, a son Leo having died in infancy.
