Though a sufferer of Bright's Disease for sometime, Mr. Hubbell's death came sudden and unexpected, giving his friends a shock. Always a cordial, courageous man with his acquaintances he was downtown shaking hands with friends as usual Saturday forenoon, but complained of feeling badly. On his way home he was stricken with paralysis and lost consciousness. Neighbors carried him into the house and summoned medical aid. This proved of no avail as he steadily failed until death came to him Monday. D. M. Hubbell was born in Essex County, New York, August 31, 1834, the only son of the late banker, Dudley M. Hubbell and wife. He came to Iowa with his parents in 1855 and two years later was married to Nancy J. Hanna, who survives him. Two sons, the present cashier of American Savings Bank, H. B. Hubbell, and O. J. Hubbell of Texas, were the fruit of this marriage and also survive their father. For more than forty years he followed farming, but in 1898 he sold his farm west of Maquoketa and moved to town, where he has since resided. The funeral will take place from the home this Thursday morning at 10 o'clock, Rev. Samuel Shepherd officiating.
