Marian Nienkark

Marian Lou Nienkark, 77, of Maquoketa died Friday, may 29, 2009 at the Jackson
County Regional Health Center in Maquoketa.  A celebration of her life will be
held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 3, at Carson & Son Funeral and Cremation
Services in Maquoketa.

Burial will be in the Union Cemetery, rural Maquoketa. 

Visitation was held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 2, at the funeral home. 

Marian Lou Nissen was born Dec. 19, 1931 in Clinton County to Cecil Nissen and
Bertha (Bentley) Nissen. 

She was a 1949 graduate of Elwood High School, where she played basketball. 

She married Lavern H. Nienkark on Nov. 26, 1954 in Maquoketa. He preceded her in
death on Jan. 14, 1977. 

Mrs. Nienkark had farmed with her husband in Jones and Jackson counties for many
years. 

She also had operated the concession stand at Maquoketa Caves State Park and
Nienkark's store. Babysitting for the Gerlach family and other neighbors was
another job that she held.
