NOONAN Michael J. Noonan, well known and popular farmer of Butler Township, Jackson County, died in the family residence in Chicago, at 8:20 o'clock, Thursday night, August 26, 1926, after a lingering illness. Mr. Noonan was the son of the late John Noonan and Jane Burke, who were pioneer settlers of Butler Township, where Michael was born November 30, 1852, on the farm where he lived most of his life time. He was married to Miss Hannah Brown, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Brown of Whitewater Township, Dubuque County, in St. Martin's Church, Cascade, by Rev. F. X. Feuerstein, October 4, 1882. Mrs. Noonan survives her husband with the following children: Dr. Albert Noonan, Joseph Noonan and Marie Noonan, all of Chicago. There also survive him, his sister, Miss Mary Noonan of Chicago, and a brother, Harry Noonan of Garry Owen. Mr. Noonan operated the Garry Owen Store and later farmed on the old homestead and was in partnership in a horse breeding business with David Stanton. This brought him wide renown among farmers and horse breeders. A Solemn Requiem High Mass was celebrated at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Garry Owen by Rev. D. P. Mulcahey, pastor, assisted by Rev. Rev. P. J. Coffey and Rev. J. J. Leen. The pall bearers were Matt Donovan, John McCarthy, William Stanton, D. W. Noonan, John Federspiel and John C. Devlin.
