Bridget Fitzgerald was born in the parish of Donereale, County Cork, Ireland, November 22, 1819 and emigrated to this country in 1849 and settled in Kane County, Illinois. During that year she was married to Ralph Norcott. In 1852 they moved to Iowa and located on a farm in Otter Creek township, Jackson county, where they have since lived. Three children were born to them-Anna (Mrs. M. Mahony), Martha and Nicholas, who with the husband and father, survive to mourn the loss of a loving wife and kind mother. The funeral was held at Otter Creek, Sunday, January 7th, Father Clabby officiating. A very large number of friends and neighbors followed the remains to their last resting place in the Otter Creek cemetery.
