He was the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. William O'Connell. Some time since the young man had the measles, but before entirely recovering, he caught a severe cold which settled in his lungs, and the result was quick consumption, a short illness, and his surprisingly sudden death. Mr. O'Connell was born near Garry Owen twenty-five years, ago. He had many friends, owing to his genial and agreeable disposition. A year ago last February his brother, William, died after a brief illness and this second visitation of death in the family is a heavy burden for the afflicted parents and their cup of sorrow is indeed, filled to overflowing. The deceased is survived by his parents, brother Timothy, and sisters, Josie and Nora. The funeral, which was held on Monday morning at St. Patrick's church, Garry Owen, was one of the largest held in many years. Solemn high mass was celebrated by Rev. Lonergan, assisted by Revs. Kelly and McNamara. Interment was made in the church cemetery. The pall bearers were John Burke, Joe Noonan, Frank Boyle, Ben Donovan, W. Leonard and W. Donovan.
