    MRS. SHANNON DIES AT 76

    Mrs. J.E. Shannon, 76, of 1004 S. Washington St. died in St. Lukes Hospital
Tuesday morning. Mrs. Shannon had been in failing health for a number of years.

    Services will be in the Methodist Church at 2 p.m. Friday with Rev. Allen
Regan officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends
may call at the Gates Funeral Home Thursday.

    Mrs. Shannon was born Nettie Sweigart on August 10, 1879 at Maquoketa, Iowa
and grew to womanhood there. She was united in marriage to Joseph E. Shannon
September 19, 1906, at Maquoketa and their home was established there for one
year. In 1907 they moved to Aberdeen, South Dakota where they have since lived.

    Mrs. Shannon was a member of the Methodist Church, a charter member of
Chapter AX of PEO, a member of the Shakespeare Club and of the Eastern Star.
