He was in his 72d year. His death was due to a stroke of paralysis, the week previous, from which he never fully recovered. The funeral services were held at the M. E. Church at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon, Rev. Shoemaker officiating. Services were held at the grave by the Masonic order of which Mr. Smith was a member. The Grand Army of the Republic and Union Veterans Union were in attendance, the deceased having been an old soldier and a member of both organizations.
