Mr. Watkins was highly esteemed as honorable, upright man by all of our citizens. He was for many years Sheriff of this county, an office which he filled with ability and credit. He removed west with his family about ten years ago; but afterwards spent much of his time mining in Missouri, and did not again join his family until a few months since. About two years ago he became a spiritualist, and died a convert to that faith. The deceased was a man of fine social qualities, indulgent and kind to his family and generous to a fault with his friends and neighbors. Peace be with him.
