A PIONEER DIES 
David Wright of Maquoketa, passed away at his home in that city Monday 
afternoon, April 18,  after a short illness, aged 91 years. Mr. Wright was 
born April 1, 1836, at Bolton, Warren County, New York, and came to Jackson 
County in 1841 with his parents and had resided here continuously. On April 1 
he had attained the age of 91 and the event was celebrated by a family 
gathering, he being in his usual health at that time. Surviving are his wife, 
one son, Max Wright, a granddaughter, Helen Wright Hartvigsen and a grandson, 
Max Wright, and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2:30 
o’clock Wednesday afternoon at his late home in Maquoketa, Rev. A. W. Sinden 
of the Congregational Church officiating and the remains laid to rest in Mt. 
Hope Cemetery.
