M. Trumbull commissioned Colonel. It first moved to St. Louis, arriving 11 December 1863. 14 Apr 1864, the First Battalion, under Maj. Ensign, moved to Rolla, MO. Part of the 2nd Battalion soon followed. They soon returned to St. Louis. 15 May 1864, the regiment embarked for Duvall's Bluff, AR. The regiment was constantly scouring the country for bushwhackers and roving bands of the enemy, and participating in numerous raids, until September 1864, when they moved to Brownsville. Leaving Brownsville, 14 Nov 1864, it pursued Price's fleeing army, returning on the 18th. Again the regiment was broken into several pieces, and went on expeditions independently, until 11 Jun, when it again broke camp and marched to Lewisburg and again divided for guarding various places, Company L being stationed at Pine Bluff. The regiment was mustered out at Little Rock AR 3 Feb 1866. During its term of service, it marched 2,000 miles; by steamboat and railroad, 1,700 miles, and the marches of the various detachments approach 8,000 more. COMPANY H Draper, Cpl. L.
