Died at his residence, in Newton, Jasper County, on Friday, August 4th, 1862, Dr.
John S. Hunter, in the 62d year of his age. Dr. Hunter was born in Washington Co.
Pa., in the year 1801. His medical practice was extensive, and prolonged through a
period of thirty-five years. As a man,a husband, and a parent, he was kind and
pleasant in his manners; as a physician, he was self-denying almost to a fault. The
Dr. was a member and a Ruling Elder in the Old School Presbyterian Church, for a
number of years.
