Services will begin today at 3 p.m. at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church. The Revs. Kenneth Grant. Mark Martin, and James Spalding will officiate. The body was donated to the University of Iowa. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the UI Foundation for the Pearl Zemlicka Scholarship Fund. The Donohue-Lensing funeral home is in charge of arrangements. Miss Zemlicka was born June 11, 1907, in Kimball, S.D., daughter of Frank and Clara Matousek Zemlicka. She received her nursing diploma in 1931 from Broadlawns Hospital in Des Moines. In 1952 she received her bachelor's degree in nursing education from Loyola University, and in 1958 she received her master's degree in education from the University of Iowa. She was assistant professor at the University College of Nursing from 1952 until her retirement in 1974 and director of Continuing Education for the Nursing College from 1962 until retirement. She was active in numerous nursing organizations, including the American and Iowa Nurses Association, and Sigma Theta Tau. She was a charter member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, where she had served as an elder. She was a member of Questers, Pilots Club, American Association of University Women, Business and Professional Women, AARP, Quilters Club and Goodwill Industries. She was a volunteer for Iowa City Hospice, Mercy Hospital Auxiliary and Hot Line and was a tour guide at the Old Capitol. She had also been active with the Elderhostel, the Red Cross Board and Blood Programs and Meals on Wheels. She is survived by two brothers, Ernest Zemlicka of Minneapolis, Minn., and Ray Zemlicka of Sacramento, Calif; and numerous nieces and nephews. Two sisters and one brother died earlier.
