She was united in marriage to Henry Luetkehans at Nuenkirchen, Germany, on January 16, 1850. They emigrated to this country, landing at New Orleans on December 31, 1852, and the following April they came to West Point, this county, and the deceased lived here for over sixty- seven years. Her husband passed away October 21, 1877. Her second marriage was to Henry Arns, which took place February 8, 1882. He preceeded her in death nine years ago. Madison and Mrs. Margaret Soppe of St. Paul. She also leaves forty-five grandchildren and forty-one great grandchildren. Deceased was a lifelong member of the Catholic church and a member of St. Mary's church and the Rosary Society of the parish. She lived a long and useful life and was a true, loving and kind wife and mother. She was also held in high esteem by all who knew her and her neighbors will remember her many kind deeds to all those in need, and was ever ready to give aid when necessary. Madison; Mr. and Mrs. George Luetkehans of Monmouth; Mr. and Mrs. Ben Soppe and children, and Mr. and Mrs. G. Overberg and family of St. Paul. Additional Comments: This is the obituary of my great-great-grandmother Anna Marie "Mary" (Brockpals or Brockboltz) Luetkehans-Arns. Her grave, and that of her first husband Henry Joseph Luetkehans, located in Calvary Cemetery behind St Mary's Catholic Church is marked with an old wooden cross. She passed away in 1921 in the same old log cabin she and Henry Luetkehans built 69 years earlier in the spring and summer of 1852. As rare as the Luetkehans name is, it is possible that nearly every Luetkehans (and many other surnanmes) in this country today is descended from her!
