DUMENIL, AGED KEOKUK GROCER, DIES AT HOSPITAL, SUNDAY J.N. Dumenil, 88, of 1120 Des Moines street, a well-known former Keokuk grocer, died on Sunday afternoon at 1:57 o’clock at Graham hospital. A son of J.B. and Frances Dumenil, he was born in Lee county on January 3, 1856, and resided here all of his life. He was the last surviving member of his parents’ family. Mr. Dumenil had operated a grocery store here for 46 years, until he retired six years ago. He was married in Hancock county, Ill., on Nov. 10, 1881, to Anna M. Holmes, who survives, along with one son, Hugh Dumenil of Chicago, and two grandchildren. He was a member of the Trinity Methodist church. The body was removed to the Schmidt Memorial home where funeral services will be held on Tuesday afternoon at four o’clock and burial will be made in Oakland cemetery. Dumenil of this city was elected a member of the executive committee of the Iowa State Retail Merchants’ association at the final meeting of the convention at Iowa City yesterday afternoon. Mr. Dumenil with E.C. Weisman and George Radasch attended the convention from this city. Following are the officers selected yesterday: President - Julius Keppner, Council Bluffs. Vice President - E.J. Canny, Burlington. Secretary - J.A. Cunningham, Dubuque. Treasurer - T.J. Mooney, Clinton. Executive Committee - J.C. Emery, Cedar Rapids, and J.N. Dumenil, Keokuk. Sioux City was given the next convention.
