Mr. Ronek came to this section about thirty-two years ago with Thomas Lahew's railroad tie and timber cutting crew and remained in this neighborhood. He was in the business of lumber sawing. Lately he had retired from active work in that line. Mr. Ronek was an honest, upright citizen, and was held in high esteem by all who knew him. He was 78 years old and was a native of Linn county. His wife died a number of years ago and he is survived by the following children: Frank, Charles and Melvin, of Bernard; Otto, of Dubuque; and John and one daughter, who reside in Cedar Rapids. The funeral services were held on Friday at St. Patrick's church, Garry Owen, Rev. P P. Mulcahy officiating. The remains were taken to Ely, Linn county, for burial.
