Lieut. James C. Amen 

Cedar Rapids, Iowa 

Born in Missouri Valley, Iowa, September _4, 1897. Son of Mary and John J. 
Amen. Volunteered May 5, 1917. Battery E, Field Artillery.

Image has been slightly optimized. 

A worn spot may have worn away a digit in the birthdate. 

His father was also known as James J. Amen, a bank president who ended up as a 
grocer in Northwood, Worth County, Iowa in 1930. 

James C. Amen had a brother Harlan R. Amen, whose photo is also posted and a 
sister, Edith M. Amen, who according to the 1900 census was born July 1883. An 
obituary for an Edith Amen born July 28, 1883 was published in the Cedar Rapids 
Gazette, Friday June 6, 1975, page 3.
