Carnegie. __Roy Alden Carnegie, 1611 Grande avenue SE, lifelong resident of Cedar Rapids, died at his home, at 11:15 p.m. Sunday following a long illness. Born Aug. 5, 1873, at Clinton, he was married to Lillian B. Shepard on Sept. 30, 1933, at Cedar Rapids. __He was a Spanish American and World war I veteran in the 133rd Infantry and was a captain at the time of his discharge. __Mr. Carnegie was a member of the Peoples church, Mt. Hermon Lodge, No. 263, A. F. & A. M., El Kahir Shrine, National Sojourners, United Spanish War Vets, the American Legion, and the B. P. O. Elks. __Surviving in addition to his wife, is one step-son, Charles F. Shepard, of Cedar Rapids. __Services will be conducted in the Turner chapel at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday by the Rev. W. W. Argow. Born Nov. 17, 1876, she had been a lifelong Cedar Rapids resident. __She is survived by Mrs. Alexander Dean Douglas, a daughter living in Albuquerque, N.M.; a son Charles F., of Cedar Rapids; 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. __Arrangements are being made by Turner. *************** The Cedar Rapids Gazette Mon., June 27, 1960, page 2, col. 4. Mrs. Marion Carnegie Charter Member Of Woman's Club, Dies (Photo) Mrs. Marion Carnegie. __Mrs. Marion H. Carnegie, for many years one of the most active members of the Cedar Rapids Woman's club, and a charter member and house mother of that organization died at her residence at 1722 Park avenue southeast at 5 p.m. yesterday. Mrs. Carnegie, a prominent worker in various civic activities, was a longtime resident of the city. Born in Rockton, Ill., she married William O. Carnegie, and they came to Cedar Rapids fifty-four years ago. __Death was due to heart trouble with possible complications. Although Mrs. Carnegie had been in poor health for six months or more, she was not confined to her bed until the last two weeks. __Mrs. Carnegie was one of the oldest members of the Peoples church, and had been active in its work for many years. She was also a member of Malta chapter, Eastern Star, of the Shriners' auxiliary, and of the auxiliaries of the Spanish- American and World war veterans. In her work with the Woman's club, Mrs. Carnegie was most interested in the activities of the philantropic department, and until six months ago never missed a meeting. __Mrs. Carnegie is survived by a son, Roy Carnegie, who lives at home, and a daughter, Mrs. Della C. Morgan of Fredonia, N. Y. Both were at her bedside, Mrs. Morgan having been here for the last six months. Mrs. Carnegie's husband died a number of years ago. __The funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m. tomorrow at the Turner chapel, with the Rev. W. A. Pratt officiating. The body will be cremated and the ashes placed in Cedar Memorial Park.
