Cedar Rapids, Iowa 

Born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, April 18, 1896. Son of Emma and Vaclav Janda. 
Volunteered May 12, 1917. Army, 9th Infantry Regulars, 2d Division. In battles 
Champagne, Argonne, to St. Mihiel, Chateau Thierry, Soissons Monyon, to 
Coblenz. Wounded at Soissons.
