FRANK E. ABERNATHY, of Gallatin, Mo., and MISS STELLA CHENEY, of Hopkins Mo., were married at the home of the bride's sister at Bedford, Iowa, on the 25th of January. After the ceremony a wedding breakfast was served, the bridal couple departed for a visit with the groom's parents, MR. and MRS. FM ABERNATHY, of this city. MR. ABERNATHY and his bride are both graduates of Highland Park College, and are young people of excellent standing in their respective communities. They will be at home to their many friends after February 15th, at Gallatin, Mo., where the groom holds a responsible position as telegraph operator. A reception was held at the parental ABERNATHY home in Chariton, on their arrival here last week, at which only the immediate relatives and a few friends were present, and a two-course, six o'clock dinner was one of the features. Without elaborating on this notice the Leader desires to say that FRANK served during the Spanish-American War in the U.S. Army, and was sent to the Philippine Islands, and was held in the service for several months after its close, being discharged only about two and a half years ago.
