Iowa February 5, 1880 Dr. CALDWELL, of Adel, was elected a vice president of the State Medical association. Dr. E. T. LIKES, of Winterset, was elected a delegate to the American Medical Association. The board of supervisors of Adair county have raised the bounty on wolf scalps to $5.00 until April 1st. J. H. BREEDING, of Scott township is building a fine house. J. G. RASKINS and his Chariton brother have purchased the lumber yard at Greenfield and Murray. The following attorneys and others from abroad are here attending court: J. H. WILLIAMSON, W. H. BERRY, W. J. POWELL, E. D. SIMPSON, of Indianola, and T. J. PROSSER, William CONNER, A. C. ALVERSON and Fred STEHM, of Des Moines. The Winterset Madisonian Winterset, Madison Co. Iowa February 12, 1880 The Madisonian will soon have a Cylinder Power Press, which print 800 papers an hour. The postmaster general has appointed G. H. ORR as postmaster at the Foster postoffice. The Chariton Leader comes to use with a new dress. The Leader is a good paper, and with new type, of course, is much improved in looks, while its editorial ability is always good. A burglar entered Mr. WOLF'S store, at Macksburg last Friday night, and took some money from the pocket of man sleeping there. The house of Dr. MACK, William JOHNSON, and the hotel were entered. Mr. JOHNSON lost some money and the Dr. a revolver. No clues. Wedding cards have been received in Winterset, announcing the marriage of Miss Nellie CROCKER, well known in Winterset, to Mr. Edward Somerby STEBINS, at Chicago, February 4th. They will make their home in Minneapolis. The Winterset Madisonian Winterset, Madison Co. Iowa February 26, 1880 The board of directors of this school district met last Friday night and the levy of school tax is #3,700 less than last year. The following weddings have taken place within the past week: W. H. ADAMSON and Miss Emma GARDINER Ira J. GREENWOOD and Miss Amanda COX J. W. REHARD and Miss Laura E. SMITH H. W. HARDY has traded his property south of the school house, in the south part of the city, to Mr. SNODGRASS of Monroe township, for a farm. Mr. SNODGRASS will move to town in the course of a few weeks. On last Monday at the residence of Mrs. Isaac ALLEN, Mr. James GUIBERSON and Miss Barbara Kale were united in marriage by the Rev. Henry WALLACE.
