Tyrrell, City Native Dies, Buried in Florida Services were Monday in Florida for David E. Tyrrell, father of Bradley R. Tyrrell, Route 3, with burial in the Matalacha Cemetery at Ft. North Myers, Florida. Mr. Tyrrell died Saturday a.m. at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Tampa, Florida where he had been a patient for the past four months. Death was due to carcinoma. Mr. Tyrrell was born March 8, 1921 in Marshalltown, the son of the late William F. and Alma Tyrrell. He graduated from St. Mary's school in 1940 and then went to Santa Monica, California where he was employed as a clerk at Douglas Aircraft Co. until enlistment in the Army Air Force in 1942. He graduated Feb. 26, 1944 from Victorville Army Flying School, Victorville, CA, and then served as a bombardier-navigator with the Eighth Air Force in England as a First Lieutenant. For the past 10 years, he has been employed by the Atomic Energy Commission. Survivors besides his son in Marshalltown, are his widow, Florence Tyrrell, Ft. North Myers, Florida; two daughters, Mrs. Gene (Christine) Catale of Boca Raton, Florida, and Rebecca, a student at Boca Raton College; and four other sons, David and Dan serving in the US Navy aboard the S.S. America; Dennis serving in the US Army in Georgia, and Duane at home. Also surviving are five grandchildren; a brother, William Tyrrell of Santa Monica CA; and a sister, Mrs. Doyle (Rose) Tucker of Gardenia, CA. He was preceded in death in 1942 by a brother Edward Tyrrell. Mr. Tyrrell was a nephew of the late Mrs. Ed (Alice) Mead of Marshalltown. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
