E. Richards Died Wednesday E. E. Richards, retired Wray merchant, and pioneers business man of this community, died at his home here early Wednesday morning. Mr. Richards suffered a stroke of Apoplexy in Denver on Feb. 3, and never fully recovered. Death was due to the effects of his illness. It was believed that he was improving up to the time of his death which came as a shock to his family and friends. He was 65 years, 3 months and 13 days old at the time of his death. Funeral services will be held from the Christian church in Wray Friday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock and interment will be in Grandview cemetery. The remains will lay in state at the Richards mortuary until the time of the funeral. Earnest E. Richards was born at Henderson, Iowa, March 13, 1864 and departed this life at his home in Wray, June 26, 1929. He graduated with the first class from Shenandoah Normal in 1884. On August 12, 1885, he was united in marriage to Lizzie M. Wingate at Henderson, and to this union eight children, five boys and three girls were born. The youngest son, Floyd, died in infancy. Besides his wife, Mr. Richards is survived by four sons, Guy F. of Wray, Ray W. of Denver, Earl V. of Trenton, Neb., and Wynn G. of Wray, by three daughters, Mrs. Fay McElwain of Wray, Mrs. Hazel Maxwell of Franklin, Neb., and Mrs. Flora McGinnis of Wray; by a half-brother, M. B. Hildreth of Dennison, Iowa; by two sisters, Mrs. F. E. Cohrt of Spearfish, S.D., and Mrs. F. J. Marshall of Artesian, Idaho; and by seven grandchildren. Forty-four years ago, Mr. Richards went into business at Ute, Iowa, later moving to Morehead, Iowa and from there to Wray in 1910, where he bought the hardware, furniture, and undertaking business which he conducted until about two years ago. During these forty-four years he engaged in the general mercantile and Hardware business. He was a member of the Christian church for the past 30 years, much of this time being an officer of the church at Morehead, Iowa, and at Wray. He was also a member of the W. O. W. Elk and S.B.A. lodges. Mr. Richards made many acquaintances during the years he was in business here and was highly respected. The sympathy of many friends is extended the bereaved family in their loss of husband, father, and brother. Additional Comments: Lizzie Wingate was sister of Hans Lars Wingate.
