Highum of Chatfield, Minnesota were married at the First Lutheran Church on Wednesday, August 20th, 1930. The Rev. Olaf A. Langehough officiated. Lohengrin's "Wedding March" was played by Miss Selma Houg. William Groth sang "Oh Promise Me" before the ceremony and "Sweet Mystery of Life" at the close. The bride was given away by her father, Mr. T. A. Groth. She was attired in ivory satin, trimmed in beaded pearls. The dress was princess style with a long train and her veil was caught with orange blossoms. She carried a shower bouquet of white roses. The maid of honor, Elizabeth Cornell of Ossian, Iowa, wore a dress of blue net and carried a bouquet of sweetheart roses. Charlotte Highum, a sister of the bridegroom and Ada Tollefson acted as bridesmaids. Miss Highum wore a pink chiffon dress and Miss Tollefson a pale green net. The bouquets were of pink gladiolus and were the gift of A. O. Gilbertson. Ennert Groth, brother of the bride, acted as best man, and Luther Tollefson and Wilford Shark of Forest City, IA acted as ushers. Immediately after the ceremony, a reception was given at the T. A. Groth home to more than 75 relatives and friends. Frappe was served by Mrs. Monrad Houg and Miss Cora Groth. Later a bounteous buffet supper was served by friends of the bride: Esther Hendrickson, Myrtle Borsheim, Adeline Westenberger, and Dorothy Hume. Mr. Joe Berg of LeRoy, MN seated at the beautifully decorated bride's table, poured the coffee. Mrs. Highum, who is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. T. A. Groth, was born and reared in St. Ansgar, IA. She is an alumnus of the St. Ansgar high school and was graduated from Iowa State College at Ames in 1926. Following that, she taught for 2 years at Marble Rock and 2 years at Kenyon, MN. Mr. Highum is connected with the Minnesota Highway Commission and the young couple will be at home at Chatfield, MN. after October 1st. Guests from a distance attending the wedding were: Elizabeth Cornell of Ossian, IA; Wilford Sharp of Forest City, IA; Mr.& Mrs. Vic Swenson of Chicago, Ill; Miss Lucille Swenson and Dr. & Mrs. Highum and Billie of Lanesboro, MN; Mr. & Mrs. E. A. Highum and Charlotte of Creston, MN; Mr. & Mrs. George Solberg, Mrs. H. Voxland and Elenora, Mr & Mrs. J. T. Wrolstad, Bertha, Joice and Ennert and Mrs. Theo Thompson of Kenyon, MN; Mrs. H. T. Gorden and Elenora of Minneapolis, MN; and Mr. & Mrs. J. C. Berg and Junior of LeRoy, MN.
