OBITUARY: Jeremy Ahlhelm, Mitchell County, Iowa [Mitchell County Press-News -- www.mcpress.com -- Posted Aug. 28, 2001] Jeremy "Gomer" Ahlhelm [1982-2001] Funeral services were held on Tuesday, August 28, 2001 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Osage, for Jeremy "Gomer" Ahlhelm, age 19, of Osage. Rev. Dennis Hanson and Rev. Roy Ott officiated and interment was in the Osage Cemetery. He died Saturday, August 25, 2001 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN from injuries received in an automobile accident August 19, 2001. Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Jeremy was born July 13, 1982 in Waterloo, IA the son of Scott and Becky (Huffman) Ahlhelm. He moved with his family to Osage in 1985. Jeremy attended Osage Schools and graduated from Osage High School in 2000. While in school, he participated in football and baseball. One of Jeremy's proudest moments was when he pitched and won a game at the Iowa State High School Baseball Tournament in 2000. He was employed at Tops Business Forms in Osage. Jeremy played amateur baseball and slow pitch softball. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping. Preceding him in death were his maternal grandmother, Wilma Huffman, paternal grandfather, Donald Ahlhelm. Those that survive him include his parents, Scott and Becky Ahlhelm of Osage; a sister, Mindy Starbuck and her husband, Ray of Cedar Falls; and nephew, Zachary Starbuck; maternal grandfather, Ralph Huffman of Evansdale, paternal grandmother, Barbara Ahlhelm of Waterloo; and numerous aunts and uncles.
