OBITUARY: Anton Anderson, Mitchell County, Iowa [ St. Ansgar Enterprise, 31 JAN 1980] Anton Sigurd Anderson [1900-1980] Funeral services for Anton S. Anderson, 79, of Carpenter, who died at a Mason City hospital Jan. 20, were held Jan. 23 at Deer Creek Lutheran church, Carpenter, with the Rev. E.C. Franke officiating. Anton Sigurd Anderson was born Oct. 19, 1900 on the Anderson family farm, west of Deer Creek Lutheran church, where he was baptized and confirmed. Mr. Anderson was a faithful member of his church, and had served on the nominating committee and also other committees. On Sept. 20, 1934 he was united in marriage to Nora Gordon, and to this union was born one daughter, Beverly Jane. The first five years of their marriage they lived in Carpenter, after which he was transferred to Farmington, Minn. where they lived for a year, and then on to Lyle, Minn. for nine years. In 1949 they moved back to Carpenter where they have spent the remainder of their years. In 1965 Mr. Anderson retired from the Milwaukee Railroad where he had worked for 28 years on section maintenance. During his 14 years of retirement his hobby of gardening. . . . He is survived by his wife, Nora; daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Konrad Schabacker; two grandsons, Konrad and Steven of Rock Falls; two sisters, Mrs. Selma Beyer of Mason City and Mrs. Melvin (Olga) Olson of St. Ansgar; three brothers, Leonard of Carpenter, and Gilbert of Northwood; also nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Ole, Mother, Mary, and one brother, Olaf. Burial was in Deer Creek cemetery with Rev. Franke in charge of committal services.
