OBITUARY: Glenn Charles Crossman, 1925-2001, Mitchell County, Iowa #1 of 2 [Mitchell County Press-News Online; Posted Sept. 11, 2001 -- www.mcpress.com] Glenn Charles Crossman A memorial service will be held on Crossman's Prairie in late May or early June of next year for Glenn Charles Crossman, age 76, He died Saturday, Sept. 8, 2001 at Mercy Hospital in Mason City, IA. Lindstrom Funeral Home in Riceville in charge of arrangements. Glenn was born April 1, 1925 in Alcester, South Dakota to Forrest and Aletha Hincholiffe Crossman. Shortly after his birth, the family moved to the Riceville area. Glenn attended local schools graduating from Riceville High School in 1943. He opened an accounting firm in Riceville until his retirement. Glenn was a member of the Riceville United Methodist and was active in Masonic Lodge, the Nature Conservatory, the Paleontological Society, Iowa Academy of Science, Geological Society of Iowa the Riceville Industrial Development. Preceding him in death were his parents. This service is according to Glenn's wishes. Following the service, there will be a short walk on the prairie led by Nature Conservancy personnel. Directions to Crossman Prairie are: Highway 9 to Dale Ave. (3 Miles east of Riceville), go North on Dale Avenue to 75th Street, head East on 75th Street for one and 1/4 miles to the Crossman Prairie.
