OBITUARY: CYRUS B. GUNDERSON, Mitchell County, Iowa (St. Ansgar Enterprise, St. Ansgar, Iowa; 18 APR 1991) CYRUS B. GUNDERSON [1925-1991] Surnames: Gunderson, Kadolph, Hollatz Funeral services for Cyrus B. Gunderson, 66, of Ventura, who died Thursday April 11 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Mason City, will be held Saturday, April 13 at 11 AM at Wesley Methodist Church, Mason City, with the Rev. Myron Brockmeyer officiating. Cyrus Gunderson was born February 25, 1925 in St. Ansgar, the son of Knut E. and Lula Viola (Nelson) Gunderson. He attended school in Ventura and graduated from Ventura High School. September 8, 1946 he married Shirley A. Kadolph at the United Methodist Church in Clear Lake. He and his wife opened the Corner Tap and gas station in Ventura and operated the business from 1946 to 1963. He worked for Karbick Distributing out of Britt for 20 years, and for J&W Distributing out of Mason City parttime. He was a member of the Ventura Action Club. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Tom (Barbara Jo) Hollatz, Clear Lake; a sister, Mrs. Raymond (Gloria) Hunst, Rochester, Minn.; his fiancee, Charlotte Helps of Mason City; two grandchildren, Brad and Troy Hollatz, Clear Lake. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and infant sister, Melva Gunderson. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City. Military honors were given by the Clear Lake VFW Post N. 4868.
