OBITUARY: Jaynard B. Johnson, Mitchell County, Iowa (St. Ansgar Enterprise-Journal, St. Ansgar, Iowa; 30 JAN 1992) Jaynard B. Johnson [1909-1992] Surnames: Johnson, Erickson Jaynard B. Johnson, Sr., 82, of Osage died at Maple Manor Saturday, Jan. 25. Funeral services were held Jan. 28 at ... St. Peter Lutheran Church, Toeterville, with the Rev. Dennis Hanson of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Osage, officiating. Jaynard B. Johnson, Sr. was born in Deer Creek Township, Worth County, October 6, 1909, the son of John S. and Sophia (Erickson) Johnson. He was baptized at Deer Creek Valley Church, Northwood, and confirmed at Six Mile Grove Lutheran Church, Lyle. He went to school in the Lyle area. October 21, 1935 he was married to Rosella Nelson and six children were born to this union. He lived most of his life in Freeborn and Mower County working as a farm laborer. In 1946, he started working at Hormel's as a farm laborer and retired in 1972. After retirement he moved from farmstead to farmstead raising sheep as a hobby. After losing his driver's license because of poor eyesight, he moved to Heritage House, Lyle, then to Twin Towers, Austin, Minnesota. Since December 6 he has been a resident of Maple Manor, Osage. Jaynard is survived by his wife, Rosella of Austin; children, Lester and JoAnn Payne, St. Paul, Minn.; K. Dean and Mary Zuehl, Toeterville; Jaynard Jr. and Phyllis Johnson of Lansing, Minn.; Richard and Mary Ann Johnson, Owatonna, Minn.; Robert and Suzanne Allen of Donna, Texas; Larry and Deborah Oelkers, Grantsberg, Wis.; 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Selma Berg, Northwood; Sander Johnson, Austin, Rose Hansen, Longville, Minn.; LeRoy and Mina Johnson, Mona; Bertha Barclay, Austin; Victor and Gladys Bruce, Rochester; Jim and Avis Johnson, Phoenix, Arizona; Lola Erickson, Austin; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, George, Jason, Magnus, Johnny; sisters, Johanna and Agnes; great grandchildren, Mathew and Kathleen Novack.
