OBITUARY: Ernest Frederick Kofoot, Mitchell County, Iowa (St. Ansgar Enterprise, St. Ansgar, Iowa; 13 JUN 1991 ) Ernest Frederick Kofoot [1897-1991] Surnames: Kofoot, Robeoltman, Kline Funeral services for Ernest Frederick Kofoot, 93, of Stacyville, were held Thursday, June 6 at First Lutheran Church with Rev. Robert Porisch officiating. Ernest Frederick Kofoot was born in Geneseo Township, Cerro Gordo County, Sept. 6, 1897. He was baptized at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Rockwell and confirmed there May 28, 1910. Ernest graduated from Rockwell High School and completed a busines course at Hamilton University (sic) in Mason City. He bought the Latimer and O'Brien Garage which he later sold and started farming in Kossuth County in March, 1925. June 17, 1925 he married Martha Robeoltman at her parent's farm. To this union nine children were born. For many years Ernest was a member of a male quartet. Ernest and Martha farmed in various locations, moving to a farm east of St. Ansgar in March, 1944, where they lived for 22 years. They became members of the First Lutheran Church. He retired from farming and in 1966 moved to St. Ansgar where he worked as a carpenter until retiring at the age of 78 years. In 1985 Ernest and Martha celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary with their family in attendance. Ernest resided at the Stacyville Nursing Home after suffering a broken hip in April of this year. He died June 3 at Mitchell County Memorial Hospital. Survivors include three daughters, Helen Mae Liekweg, Sheffield; Mrs. Marvin (Lucille) Solberg, Floyd; Mrs. Jim (Donella) Kline, St. Ansgar; five sons: Marvin and Donald of St. Ansgar; Ralph of Spring Valley, Minn.; Leo of Spirit Lake; and Lyle of Watseka, Illinois; 23 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; two sisters and one brother. Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, an infant son, one granddaughter and one brother.
