OBITUARY: Rosemary Penney, Mitchell County, Iowa [Mitchell County Press-News Online; Posted Sept. 11, 2001 -- www.mcpress.com] Rosemary E. (Kreber) Penney [1924-2001] Funeral services were held Monday, September 10, 2001 at Visitation Catholic Church, Stacyville, for Rosemary E. Penney, age, 76, of Ames, formerly of Stacyville. Father Joseph Schneider officiated and burial was in the Visitation Catholic Cemetery, Stacyville. She died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2001 at Mary Greeley Medical Center, Ames, from complications of diabetes. Adams Funeral Home, Ames, was in charge of arrangements. She was born at St. Cloud, MN on Dec. 1, 1924 the daughter of John and Dena (Bauer) Kreber. She lived in Stacyville most of her life until the last four years when she lived in Ames. She graduated from Stacyville High School in 1943. Rosemary was a homemaker. She married Stuart Penney on March 12, 1945 in Austin, MN. She was a member of the Visitation Catholic Church and SE Town Women's Circle. She volunteered delivering Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, crafts, pets, & gardening. She was on the Stacyville Public Library Board. Preceding her in death was a son John; an infant daughter Theresa Penney; and sister Marcella Heckman. Those that survive her include her husband Stuart of Ames; a son James Penney of Ames; five daughters, Mary Jo Pfeifer of State Center, IA, Deb Penney-Crockett of Ames, Elayne Timmons of Des Moines, Rita Martens of Winterset and Ann Penney-Decker of Dubuque.
