OBITUARY: George Herbert Rohde, Mitchell County, Iowa [St. Ansgar Enterprise, St. Ansgar, Iowa. 13 Sep 1979 ] George Herbert Rohde [1904-1979] George H. Rohde Funeral Held At Mona Lutheran Church Funeral Services for George H. Rohde, 75, of Mona, who died at his home September 1, were held September 4 at the Mona Lutheran church with the Rev. Gaylord Grant officiating. George Herbert Rohde was born July 26, 1904 in Schaller, the son of Emil and Martha Rohde. As a small boy his family moved from Schaller to Webster, S.D., and from there to Austin, Minn. in 1927, and to Mona in 1937. He attended the public schools in Webster, S.D. November 2, 1925 he married Millie Pearl Barnett at the Lutheran parsonage in Clark, S.D. Mr. Rhode worked as a farm hand until 1927 when he started working at the Hormel Company plant in Austin. He retired January 31, 1967 He was a member of the Mona Lutheran Church and the Trinity Lutheran Brotherhood. Mr. Rohde is survived by his wife, Millie of Mona; four daughters: Mrs. Sylvan (Virginia) Faas, Mrs. Richard (Rosella) Hagelund, Mrs. Richard (Geraldine) Wodke, Mona; Reta Rohde of Austin; eight sons: Bernard Rohde of Randolph, Kan., Raymond and Olven Rohde of Mona, Clifford Rhode of Clear Lake, Vergil Rohde of Madrid, Spain, First Sgt. LaVernce Rohde, with the Air Force in Italy, Harold Rohde of Mason City, Duane Rohde of St. Paul; 24 grandchildren and three great grandchildren; a brother, Earl Rohde of Austin, Minn., two sisters, Mrs. Eric (Leona) Soderberg of Minneapolis and Mrs. John (Gladys) Erdman of Webster, S.D.; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one son, one granddaughter and one grandson. Burial was in Grandview Memorial Gardens, Austin, with Rev.
